Hundreds more bus journeys are planned across Dorset as part of a seven year transport programme.
Dorset Council's Cabinet has approved plans to create 700 additional bus journeys, introduce a full Saturday service and establish new strategic routes, while some areas could see the frequency of buses doubled from next summer.
The programme will improve supported bus services and core routes between rural communities and market towns, alongside expanded community transport and a new in demand service for areas which do not currently have regular bus routes.
Councillor Jack Jeanes said residents, particularly those in rural communities, want "better transport options and better connections", with the changes intended to improve access to work, education, healthcare, shops and social activities.
A new Independent Travel Training service will help young people and adults travel more independently, while the council also plans better coordination between transport and health services to make reaching healthcare appointments easier.
Councillor Nick Ireland said the programme would give people "more choice, greater independence and better access" to services.
Detailed routes, services and delivery plans will be published before implementation.
